Hi guys. Welcome to this week’s episode of Sticky Note Marketing, the podcast where you can get actionable tips for growing your business and building your brand, enough just to fit on a sticky note. So this week I’m going to talk about a topic that’s really near and dear to my heart. So I see so many savvy, smart business women and professional women and business owners basically limit their success by remaining a best kept secret. The problem is with remaining a best kept secret is not only are you not creating the profit potential that you have the chance to, but you’re also under serving the people who need you most. So what happens if maybe you’re climbing the corporate ladder, maybe you’re crafting your path and future for life after corporate, or you’re building your business. How do you establish those blockbuster brands instead of becoming a bust brand?
So there are three essential elements I want to share with you today that are going to help you create that established brand presence, create that connection with your ideal target audience, and basically create a business that’s built to last or a career that’s pretty much Bulletproof. Okay. So what does a personal brand really mean? What does it do for you? So it helps differentiate you if you’re a professional from anyone else that is potentially competing for your role or if you’re building a business, anyone else that’s competing for your clients and customers. So when you think about it, people want to do business with people, not businesses or cold brands, and people also want to hire and promote people that they understand clearly what kind of value they bring to the table. So there are some key benefits to developing this personal brand. Whether you’re someone who is developing your career or growing your business, it builds trust with the people that you care about most.
It also provides more authority for you in terms of differentiating yourself from others in your space. It also allows you to attract and be featured as an expert and authority in your space. People want to highlight people that they understand what they do, that they stand apart, that they have a differentiated opinion and extra value to bring to the table. It also allows you to grow your network. So whether you are a professional entrepreneur or you are a professional corporate person, it’s essential to make sure that we’re constantly growing our networks and increasing our spirits of influence because you never know where that next referral partner or JV might come from. Also, it allows us to demonstrate and demand premium offers, premium pricing and premium salaries. Last but not least, it also provides you with a lasting platform that can outlive your current role, your current business and your current corporate or business brand.
So lives change, markets change, audiences change, but your personal brand is something that can stay with you no matter what business or roll you’re in. Okay, so what are those three things that are going to set yourself yourself up for building a blockbuster personal brand instead of a bust brand? Number one, you have to start with you. You’re going to stay with something that’s not personal to you, that doesn’t build on your strengths, your interests, and what you enjoy doing. So you need to do an inventory of what makes you special. Number two, you want to understand your target audience. So if you don’t understand what is keeping your audience up at night, if you don’t understand what makes them worry, what makes them cringe, what, what pain they’re dealing with and how you uniquely solve it, you’re not going to be able to effectively create that brand messaging that’s going to magnetize your people to you.
So it’s about you, but it’s also about them. And the combination of those two things is what creates a magnetic personal brand. You also want to number three, think about developing your own signature proprietary process. What’s your signature system? What’s your special sauce? What is it that you do to deliver a solution to that need that you’ve dug into in step two, but in a way that’s differentiated from anyone else, whether you do it based on different ingredients, a different approach, different background experience, whatever it is, you do it differently than anyone else could deliver it, but you need to name it. You need to create that signature program and profitable authority. So this is something that I have a lot of heart for. I see too many smart, savvy business women like I said, become and stay a best kept secret and undervalue themselves in our expertise.
So this is something that I work with my individual clients one on one as well as my group students in my profitable authority system and signature group program. We go into the details from here because these three keys are essential, but they’re just the jumping off point. It’s the beginning of the roadmap from here. This is then when you can talk about, okay, what social platforms are you doing, what am I doing on my website? How am I growing my list? What’s my elevator pitch? What do I have to say in that 11 2030 seconds that I might have someone’s initial attention to keep them interested in me and continue the conversation? How do we create offers that are differentiated from others in my space, even if it’s a highly competitive category? All of these things build on these three essential elements that I shared with you today, so I’d love to continue the conversation. I’m going to drop a link to our private community in the comments below. And if you want my action guide, my quick cheat sheet on how to get started building your own personal brand, I’m going to post that link above. Cheers. Wishing you luck and success in your business and career this week.
